Technology for the future: Heating, ventilating and cooling using only one system / air conomy fulfils the desire of private and institutional clients for to reduce costs / optimum energy exploitation and perfect room conditions / current premises in Sonthofen and Göppingen
Selters/Sonthofen/Göppingen (hds). – Functionality that saves energy and costs, plus multiple functionality – these are crucial success criteria for future heating systems. Just the facts supplied by the Federal Office of Statistics are sufficient impetus to devote serious thought to the question: Energy costs increased from 1991 to 2005 by almost 60 percent, whereas disposable income only rose by around 46 percent.
However, by means of only one installation the dilemma of energy costs can be brought to a conclusion. At the same time, room conditions suitable for people prone to allergies will be created. This innovation is called air conomy and originates from the development department at Schütz Energy Systems in Selters. This intelligent surface heating and ventilation system from the Westerwald has long since found its use in private residences and villas, as well as in commercial premises.
Alpine air quality even in the office
Just from outside, modern timber construction is a real 'eye-catcher'. However, even inside the new-build of the Social Services Office for the district of Oberallgäu in Sonthofen, officially opened in 2006, is surprising: Natural materials employed with much variety and light and bright rooms offer the 30 employees a workplace that is surely the envy of many. That it is not just a question of visual and ergonomic aspects has been ensured by the team of architects around Franz Vogler, Klaus Noichl and Angelika Blüml from Oberstdorf. Supported by Thomas Bader of ABS Zentralheizung- und Lüftungsbau GmbH, in Bolsterlang, in four weeks of work during the spring of 2006, 1,000 square metres of air conomy surface were laid on two floors. As a result of the controlled room ventilation, the air from the Allgäu mountains now even penetrates the offices. By means of architecturally well-fitted ventilation shafts, fresh air can circulate from the floor to the ceiling slowly and continuously – without causing disruption from noise or draughts that are too strong. An ideal working atmosphere is created, which positively influences the health and energy of staff. The fact that, over and above this, resources are protected in a landscape where nature is worth conserving is also in harmony with SWW's philosophy. Andreas Gebhard, SWW's Director: "The concept of saving energy and in the long-term even costs as well in an environmentally-sound manner is what convinced us. After all, we reclaim about 90 percent of the heat."
A villa with a vision
695 square metres of the total area are equipped with air conomy: This private villa on a flourishing plot in a quiet residential area in Göppingen is luxuriously equipped on three levels. Swimming pool, sauna, generous baths, and extensive interior design: Here ought feeling good to be guaranteed in every respect – that was what the client desired. For that reason, he decided, after an intense search, on air conomy: heating, ventilating and air conditioning. The novel cost reducing and environmentally friendly 'all-in-one-system' from Schütz Energy Systems is what convinced him.

Three functions – one system: air conomy
This multiple benefit product is the first of its kind to use three climatic operating modes: It heats, ventilates and cools! At its core is a warm water panel heating system with an integrated and regulated ventilating and air extraction function. When required, there is also the facility to cool rooms. Underfloor heating generates on colder days a pleasant and mild radiant heat across the whole of the floorspace. This is evenly distributed across the whole surface and temperature fluctuations are avoided.
On hot days, there is an option to create constant pleasant and cooler room conditions. Cold water is simply fed through the pipes in the floor as required. This lowers the temperature by about three to four degrees and leads, particularly in warmer seasons, to a constant freshness for the occupants, but without the flat or house turning into a 'fridge'.
Whether heating or cooling: At all times, there is access to a fresh supply of pleasant air. Best possible supply to every nook and cranny is guaranteed by our air conomy system component.
The linking of controlled living accommodation ventilation and underfloor heating lowers energy consumption considerably and thereby protects the owner's funds. Exchange of air and heat in rooms is no longer carried out at irregular intervals by the opening and closing of windows, but constantly by means of air outlets. These are inserted discreetly and unobtrusively into the floor. Old and stale air is fed via a venting system to a waste heat recovery facility. This circuit enables the heating of fresh air streaming in at the same time. In this energy-saving manner, ideal and pleasant room living conditions will be created.
The exchange of air contaminated with odours and pollutants makes it possible for people with allergies to breathe a sigh of relief - literally: pollen and particulates are filtered out by air conomy. This way they do not penetrate rooms. The continual ventilation function also prevents the formation of damp and mould.
