DSM Composite Resins and Schütz:

Special Communication of a Prosperous Partnership

Europe’s ‘leading manufacturer of composite resins finds its ideal packaging – produced by the leader of the world market for IBCs / Joint website

Selters. When it’s a question of optimisation processes, whether for products or operational procedures, intercompany co-operation in a spirit of partnership has become the norm. SCHÜTZ GmbH & Co. KGaA from Selters and its customer DSM Composite Resins, subsidiary of the Dutch DSM group, have now gone one step further with a special form of communication for their advantageous partnership.

As part of a PR and advertising campaign and most significantly also on their joint website (www.unlimited-protection.net), the IBC world market leader and the leading European producer of composite resins are now underlining the excellent results of their co-operation for the benefit of the customer, the market and the general public.

The resin producer is the first company in its field that has unreservedly acknowledged the Ecobulk MX-EX-EV (IBC for hazardous areas and permeation barrier) from SCHÜTZ as the ideal and exclusive standard packaging for its products and has adapted its entire production accordingly. As Steef Bouwmeester, demand chain manager at DSM Composite Resins, puts it: “As the market leader in composite resins in Europe, we at DSM are responsible for ensuring that not only our products themselves, but also transport, storage and handling meet the highest safety and environmental standards. Along with SCHÜTZ, we have carried out extensive tests on the IBC and optimised it to meet our requirements. Today, our customers are already benefiting from the advantages of this container, which is surely set to become the industrial standard for IBCs.”

The Ecobulk MX-EX-EV is manufactured on the basis of the security layer technology specially developed by SCHÜTZ – a multilayer extrusion blow-moulding method (for up to six layers) that can process different functional materials at one and the same time.

Thanks to this technology, the IBC features both an EVOH permeation and oxygen barrier and – in this case – also a conductive, black outer layer. The IBC is therefore ideal for the transport and storage of filling goods with a flashpoint of less than 61 degrees Celsius in hazardous areas 1 and 2. It is also an excellent choice for aromatic substances, scents, strong-smelling products, a number of chemicals and/or transport media which are extremely sensitive to oxygen. The EVOH barrier provides reliable protection against the penetration and leakage of gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, solvents and aromas while the conductive outer layer and the earthed valves ensure electrostatic safety and, lastly, the black colouring provides excellent protection from light and UV radiation.

Given these characteristics, the IBC has everything DSM Composite Resins seeks in its ideal transport packaging. The quality of the resins remains consistently high. With the MX-EX-EV IBC from SCHÜTZ, the solvents in the resin products particularly – such as styrene – can no longer diffuse through the container wall nor can damaging media penetrate them.

In effect, DSM Composite Resins’ co-operation with SCHÜTZ serves its most important corporate goals – continual striving for innovation, improving product safety and quality and dedication towards customers by helping / supporting to improve their work, activities and operational processes. “And for SCHÜTZ, the co-operation, communication of which is focused outwards, represents another important and prominent reference as well as the best confirmation of the success of our strongly market-oriented development policy,” says Veit Enders, the SCHÜTZ manager of marketing and sales in Europe.
