Schütz opens a new Industrial Packaging site in Moerdijk with innovative service offer
Time and effort in the supply chain of customers is reduced to an absolute minimum
Selters / Düsseldorf. How deep is the notion of Responsible Care anchored in the corporate policy and philosophy of Schütz GmbH & Co. KGaA and how is sustainable responsible care interpreted? This is demonstrated by the company from Selters at the “K 2007” from 24th to 31st October in Düsseldorf (Hall 05, Stand 5 B 22). In addition to the presentation of many innovations covering the key competences of Schütz, namely plastics processing, Schütz is also presenting itself in the Industrial Packaging division as being innovative and service-oriented.
At the same time as the “K” trade fair is taking place, the company is opening a new plant in Moerdijk in the Netherlands. The 60,000 m2 factory premises which are strategically and ideally located between Rotterdam and Antwerp, not forgetting the docks, is the second largest production site - after the headquarters in Selters - of the company which is represented on all continents. It is here that the full range of transport packaging is to be produced as per the proven Schütz quality.
In addition to a production line for IBC, the 6-layer blow-moulding technology is also being installed at the new site, which for instance can produce IBC with EVOH barrier layers against permeation and even conductive containers. The site, which is perfectly located will also incorporate the operation of an additional 3-layer extrusion blow unit for the production of standard or conductive PE tight-head drums as well as a full production unit for steel drums.
As well as these innovations, Schütz Benelux is able to offer its customers another benefit through the new plant, which could develop a trendsetting character for the whole division. For decades, Schütz has invested its know-how in areas such as the development of packaging, production, management of packaging, chemicals and logistics, as well as the reconditioning of packaging and has implemented it in an intelligent, innovative service concept. The basis of this is the “Full-Service-Packaging” concept. This means: Schütz manages the filling of the packaging, as well as the whole storage and transport logistics, and of course production and reconditioning.
This enables Schütz to not only enhance its services provided by the company but this new offer will also directly affect the supply chain of customers. The corresponding time and effort is reduced to an absolute minimum, whilst all activity and events processes are economised to an absolute maximum. What does this means in practice?
- Schütz handles all of the “Packaging Management” and produces the optimum onsite packaging solution.
- Schütz manages the filling products of customers, which are supplied in big-bulks and organises storage, including batch management. This reduces transport and packaging costs considerably, especially for intercontinental sales, whilst protecting the environment at the same time.
- Schütz manages the filling of the packaging within the framework of a full-service toll-filling and eliminates all unnecessary transport costs for empty packaging.
- Schütz manages the remaining processing from labelling, batch management and quality management to the whole dispatch logistics including delivery to the end user.
- Schütz manages all administrative tasks including paperwork, customs clearance and dispatch.
- At the end of the supply chain, Schütz takes care of the collection of empty packaging and deals with the professional and ecological recycling of all packaging.
The “K” trade fair is not just the starting signal for the new plant in Moerdijk, but it gives all customers and partners of the Industrial Packaging division a full overview of the different competences of the whole business. Schütz presents itself in its entirety around the key competence of plastics processing and gives the visitor a complex insight into the corporate philosophy: “Living Responsible Care. Globally.”
