Schütz Demonstrates Convincing Engineering Capabilities at K 2004

Industry Services Division guarantees quality andindependence / High international standard

Selters / Düsseldorf. At K 2004, the international plastics fair in Düsseldorf, Schütz GmbH & Co. KGaA from Selters, Westerwald the leading producer of industrial packaging and house technology products – proved with its Industry Services division that it was equal to any international comparison. All the technological know-how relating to machinery, engineering, tool and mould construction is concentrated here in a complex, efficient portfolio ofuncompromising quality. This expertise benefits the company’s two other pillars in a number of ways.

Schütz itself plans, designs and builds virtually all the production equipment, moulds and tools necessary for the manufacture of its products. This constitutes not only a worldwide guarantee ofconsistently high quality standards, but also the long-term independence of all Schütz divisions. As a result, they all boast great flexibility and short downtimes when repairs becomenecessary and, as a consequence, high production reliability and the long life of machinery and also, ultimately, a great reduction in outside expenditure on development and production.

The Schütz Industry Services division is the basis on which market-orientated products are manufactured – from the individual bespoke component to large series. State-of-the-art technologies are brought into play here – spanning integrated and CIM-aided product development, production conforming to the current CATIA aerospace standard down to optimised component geometryachieved with simulation programs for blow-moulding and filling technology as well as the very latest in five-blade milling cutters for the core technology in large-scale blowing tool design.

Schütz today holds a host of patents for the realisation ofproduction equipment, for production processes and for the manufacture of serial parts – know-how that is in demand all over the world and available to licenseeswithin the context of co-operation agreements. The transfer of know-how andtechnology covers a wide programme ranging from full plant layouts, extensive engineering and machine tool constructionpackages down to large-scale tool design and even turn-key production facilities.

The division’s wealth of experience, technological know-how and innovative research and development work have already gone into preparing a host of products and processes for serial production. This is as true, for example, of the patented odour and permeation barrier SMP (Surface Modified Plastics) based on fluorination as it is of Schütz Cormaster Honeycombs – a lightweight and versatile material for use in the aerospace industry, motor racing, vehicle construction and in other high-tech applications.
