MSDS/SDB – what is that? Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) (in German, SDB) are safety instruction sheets for the handling of dangerous substances. In European states and many other countries, producers, importers and carriers of dangerous substances or preparations containing dangerous substances are required to provide such data sheets.
What are MSDSs needed for? SCHÜTZ stores all the information contained in the MSDSs about the different substances in a central database. With the aid of this database, SCHÜTZ can judge whether or not an emptied container is eligible for collection on the basis of its filling product. The MSDSs also serve as a quick aid to co-ordination in the event of accidents and complement the shipping documents.
When do I need to provide SCHÜTZ with an MSDS? SCHÜTZ already has an extensive database of MSDS data. Nonetheless, you should send an MSDS (as a PDF document, wherever possible) the first time you place a collection request with SCHÜTZ for containers with appropriate filling products. You naturally do not need to send another MSDS for the same filling product with future requests.
If filling products differ from those in previous collection requests, standard procedure is that you also submit a new MSDS.
