Each ECOBULK must satisfy the following general collection conditions. Should an ECOBULK fail to meet one of these conditions, SCHÜTZ and its licensees are entitled to refuse to accept that ECOBULK at the client’s premises or, alternatively, to invoice the client for any expenses arising following collection. Please also consult our regional collection conditions, as they may contain relevant requirements regarding minimum collection quantities or similar. Should you be uncertain whether or not a container or a filling product satisfies our general collection conditions, please consult the FAQs section for further information or contact your personal service agent at your designated SCHÜTZ TICKET SERVICE.

The SCHÜTZ TICKET is valid for all SCHÜTZ containers sold direct from a SCHÜTZ location and returned after their first time of empyting. Only SCHÜTZ ECOBULK are accepted.

SCHÜTZ reserves the right to refuse to take back used ECOBULKs that constitute a potential health hazard or a danger to the environment. Products excluded: e.g. filling goods causing cancer and/or belonging to the class R45/49 (for US purposes: Mutagenic Cat. 1, Carcinogenic Cat. 1; Canada and Mexico: Toxic 6.1, Marine Pollutants [UN / 49CFR 172.101 appendix B]) will not be collected, unless they have been neutralised or the IBCs washed out.
ECOBULKS must be completely drained prior to collection, ie, drip-free, trickle-free and scraped completely clean as well as free of any external solidified product residue.
NB:The benchmarks for maximum product residues are 0.1% of the nominal volume (approx 1kg) for low-viscosity filling products, 0.5% (approx 5kg) for high-viscosity products (for US purposes: max. 1 gallon). As a general rule, a container with any visible product residue cannot be accepted for collection. > Example
Severely contaminated containers are also excluded from collection. > Example
Markings, such as identification plates, product stickers and warning labels for hazardous goods must be legible. Where applicable, uncleaned, empty ECOBULKs must, in accordance with the legislation governing hazardous goods, carry the same markings (UN number and name of the hazardous goods) as full ones. The transport documents must comply with regulations.
NB:For legal reasons, emptied, uncleaned containers must also carry the proper markings. Identification plates, product stickers and warning labels for hazardous goods must be legible. IBCs without the necessary, or with illegible, product stickers or warning labels for hazardous goods cannot therefore be accepted. > Example
Discharge valves and/or other closure systems must be present and in full working order. Each empty ECOBULK must be as closed and sealed for transport as a full ECOBULK.
NB:Empty ECOBULKs must be as closed and sealed for transport as full ECOBULKs (possible development of gases, leakage of residual quantities etc). Therefore please conduct a quick check that all openings and closures are properly sealed so that no goods, gases or similar can escape. > Example

No part of an ECOBULK may be damaged, ie, the inner bottle, the steel grid, the pallet and all other functional parts must be completely free of damage.
NB: As a general rule: An IBC must – in order to satisfy our general collection conditions – be suitable for transportation. We have set out below some examples illustrating when an IBC will be accepted by our carriers and when they may refuse to collect a container.
Acceptable:
- slightly warped bottom plate
- missing screw
- slightly damaged pallets (condition: weld seams must be intact) > Example
- Wooden pallets with slightly twisted corner foot > Example
Possible reasons for refusing to collect
- extremely warped steel grid frame or bottom plate (indented inwards or outwards) > Example
- damaged steel grid frame or bottom plate
- weld seams of pallets cracked > Example
- heavily damaged pallet as a result of which IBC is unfit for transport > Example
Should you be uncertain whether or not a container is too badly damaged, your designated local SCHÜTZ service agent will be happy to advise you.

The ECOBULK must not show any signs of extreme oxidation.
NB IBCs with white oxidation are accepted if the oxidation affects less than 10% of the entire steel surface. Slight rust patches on the bottom plate or beneath the discharge valve are acceptable. Extreme oxidation can be avoided with the aid of the extra acid-protection component “Säureschutz”.
| |
IBCs are not acceptable when their metal surface is covered with red oxidation (rust).
