Safety and convenience: the Ecobulk SX-D-OV for sensitive and flammable products

The IBC is firmly established as a high-performance and efficient form of packaging for a wide range of applications. However, due to safety considerations, smaller containers such as steel drums or stainless steel containers are still frequently used to transport flammable liquids and other particularly sensitive filling products. The Ecobulk SX-D-OV allows packagers to benefit from the unrivalled cost-effectiveness and convenience of an IBC while also ensuring maximum safety along the supply chain. The container from Schütz is based on the principle of a double-wall design: the steel hull forms a leakproof additional container that acts as an integrated containment tray if the inner bottle is damaged, for example as a result of a fire. This effectively prevents the filling product from leaking and minimises storage risks in the long term.

Best protection and easy handling

The 1,000 litre Ecobulk SX-D-OV is suitable for use in EX zones 1 and 2 and has passed fire protection tests with flammable and combustible liquids. UN and UL approvals are currently pending. To make the IBC as easy to use as possible, a steel lid has been integrated into the steel outer shell; this gives the user rapid access to the outlet valve simply by loosening the clamping ring – no tools required. When the steel lid is open, the contents can be conveniently discharged from below, just like a conventional IBC. To avoid contact with the contents, Schütz recommends closed discharge using a hose connection attached to the valve screw or the optional Kamlock version. As soon as the steel lid is closed, the SX-D-OV again provides complete fire and leakage protection.
